Sacred Music Launches New Online Library

After years of planning and development, the Dept. of Sacred Music is pleased to premier its new Sacred Music Library, a more powerful resource for choirs, chanters and directors to find music they need for nearly every day of the year.

The free online library is the result of a collaboration between the Depts. of Sacred Music, Internet Ministry, Liturgics and Communications.

“It is with utmost gratitude that we offer thanks to those who have labored on our behalf to reimagine, recreate and bring to fruition the new Sacred Music Library,” said Mareena Boosamra Ball, chairwoman of the Dept. of Sacred Music. “Prayerfully, everyone sought guidance, wisdom and strength from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for this monumental task. The new library is user-friendly and intuitive with a variety of search paths to gain results.”

It features better organization and a stronger search engine for more than 2,500 pieces of music. Visitors will find hymns the same way they comb through the printed books and services of the Church.

Each listing of sheet music in PDF has detailed descriptions of composers and musical styles such as choral, chant and tone. Some pieces have matching MIDI or MP3 files so Church singers can hear them in rehearsal.

“My heartfelt thanks go to Christopher Holwey for his tireless work in building and maintaining the new library, as well as typesetting, arranging, editing and composing countless hymns. He is TRULY a blessing, and we appreciate all his work for the past many years.

“We are the beneficiaries of the vision, labor and technical expertise of Dn. Christian Manasseh with Internet Ministry and Dn. Peter Samore with Communications and Liturgics during this arduous and rewarding process.

“Their hard work allows composers new and seasoned to submit their pieces to the Dept. of Sacred Music, which can refine them for inclusion in the new Sacred Music Library for use in our churches.”
