Patriarch Daniel welcomes new Greek Ambassador Evangelia Grammatika on presentation visit
His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel welcomed Her Excellency Evangelia Grammatika, the Ambassador of Greece to Bucharest, on a presentation visit at the patriarchal residence on Wednesday.
The Department for Inter-Church and Inter-Religious Relations of the Romanian Patriarchate issued a press release stating that the Patriarch of Romania extended a cordial welcome and expressed gratitude for Her Excellency’s extensive diplomatic background at the outset of the meeting.
The Ambassador thanked for the reception and highlighted the Romanian Orthodox Church’s central role in society and Orthodoxy’s contribution to affirming spiritual values.
The Ambassador underscored that this is her inaugural diplomatic mission as Ambassador and official visit since delivering the letter of credence to Romania.
His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel recalled the excellent traditional relations between the Romanian Orthodox Church and the Church of Greece and emphasised the importance of understanding the Byzantine culture as a common heritage of the two Orthodox nations.
In this context, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel reflected upon the extraordinary contributions that certain Greek figures have made to our country’s culture and education.
Simultaneously, His Beatitude emphasised the Romanian Principalities’ substantial role in emancipating the Balkan peoples and facilitating the formation of new nations throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.
As stated in the press release, the meeting concluded with a discussion of timely matters, with particular attention given to the challenges posed by the ongoing military conflicts. The importance of fostering international cooperation, peace, and solidarity was underscored.
