Northcote: The Feast Day of the Church of Saint George, Thornbury
His Grace Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Northcote, on the Feast Day of Saint George the Great Martyr and Trophy-Bearer presided over the Feast Day celebration at the Church of Saint George in the suburb of Thornbury in Melbourne.
Bishop Evmenios officiated at the Feast Day Vespers on the eve of the feast, on Sunday after of Pascha, while he also officiated during the Paschal Matins and presided over the Feast Day Divine Liturgy on the main day of the Feast on Monday 6 May 2024.
Addressing the congregation, His Grace conveyed the blessings and wishes of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia, while he also spoke about the person of Saint George and his contribution to the Orthodox Church.
Also present during the Divine Liturgy were the Consul General of Greece in Melbourne, Mr. Emmanuel Kakavelakis, and Mr. Nicholas Koukouvitakis, Secretary of the Greek Community of Melbourne, representing the President, Mr. Bill Papastergiadis.
