Feast Day of Saint Irene Chrysovalantou in Melbourne
On Saturday 27 and Sunday 28, July 2024, His Grace Bishop Kyriakos of Melbourne presided over the feast day services on the occasion of the feast of Saint Irene Chrysovalantou at the Church of Saint Catherine in the suburb of Malvern in Melbourne.
His Grace was joined by clergy of the Holy Diocese of Melbourne, among whom were the Parish Priest of the Church of Saint Catherine, Father George Adamakis, and his Assistant Priest, Father Kyriakos Tsapas, while present among the congregation was the Consul General of Greece in Melbourne, Mr. Emmanuel Kakavelakis.
During the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Kyriakos blessed and distributed the traditional red apples in memory of the three apples that were given, from Heaven, to Saint Irene Chrysovalantou. He also spoke to the large congregation about the life of the honoured Saint, while he conveyed to everyone the wishes and blessings of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
Finally, on behalf of the Parish, Father George thanked the Bishop of Melbourne for his presence at the Vespers Service and the Divine Liturgy and wished him well for the feast day.
