At a distance of almost two hours due to the difficult access of the area and the non-existent road network, at a distance of 60 km from the capital city of Accra, in the Eastern Region of Ghana, in a lush green dense rain forest, is the Orthodox Parish Community of the village of Domeabra and the Church of Saint Thomas the Apostle.

The Church of Thomas the Apostle, with its Orthodox community, is one of the historic churches in Ghana, which was built by the late missionary Metropolitan Irenaios of Accra (Talambekos) and one of the first to join the Canonical Body of the Church and the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa, originating from Protestantism.

After many years, the Orthodox faithful had the blessing of being visited by a Bishop, who is also their spiritual father, His Eminence Metropolitan Daniel of Accra, who traveled to meet them, bless them and celebrate the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist with them .

Concelebrating with His Eminence Metropolitan Daniel were the Priests Fr. Vasilios Labi, Parish Priest of the Church, and Fr. Aidesios Mukeke.

At the end of the Divine Liturgy, a Trisagion Memorial Service was celebrated for the repose of the soul of the Late Metropolitan Irenaios of Accra.

The baptised faithful all participated with longing and spiritual enthusiasm in partaking of Holy Communion.

His Eminence conveyed the paternal wishes and love of the Alexandrian Primate, His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa.

The faithful believers welcomed the Bishop with Christian hymns, local songs and dances, asking him to bless their Parish. The Bishop offered everyone blessings, icons and crosses, to keep in their homes and pray.
