Limassol continues events on occasion of 1400-year aniversary of St. John the Merciful’s repose – (VIDEO)

The Metropolitan of Limassol, His Eminence Athanasios, this week referred to the significance of the Cross in the lives of the faithful, in an address welcoming an exact replica of St. Constantine’s Cross, held at the Holy Cross Orthodox Cathedral in Limassol.

The specific Metropolis on the island republic has declared 2019 as dedicated to St. John the Merciful, the Patriarch of Alexandria and the city’s patron saint, on the occasion of the 1400-year anniversary of his repose.

The pages of the Orthodoxia News Agency today host the addresses of Church hierarchs during the procession and welcoming of the replica of the True Cross.

In a related development, the welcoming of the wonder-working icon of the Panagia Vimatarissa was held on Wednesday at the St. Nicholas Cathedral, in the Tamassos district of Cyprus.

The icon was conveyed by the Elder Archimandrite Ephraim, the Abbot of the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, who was welcomed by the Bishop of Lidra, His Grace Epifanios, as well as by all of the clerics in the Metropolis of Tamassos and flocks of worshippers.
