Greek minister: State to make revisions in religious lessons framework, following ECHR ruling

Greece’s relevant education and religious affairs minister on Friday said the ministry will proceed with revisions in a legal framework covering the teaching of religious classes in public primary and secondary schools, following the announcement of a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights, a day earlier, on the current procedure that allows parents to request an exception from the lessons.

Minister Niki Kerameos said changes will be made in the framework governing religious classes and in the manner that the exception is requested, so as to render the former absolutely compatible with national and Union law.
