One year since iconic People’s Salvation Cathedral dedicated in Bucharest

A year has passed since the biggest Orthodox Church in the world, the People’s Salvation Cathedral, was dedicated in Bucharest, Romania.

The emblematic cathedral’s construction was conceived immediately after the enthronement of the Patriarch of All Romania, His Beatitude Daniel, in September 2007. A foundation stone was laid two months later, with actual construction begun at the end of 2010. Another three to four years will be necessary for its full completion.

Construction costs so far have reached 110 million euros.

The People’s Salvation Cathedral is dedicated to the martyrs who sacrificed their life for the unity and faith of the Romanian people.
