Christmas event in Sydney commemorates 36th anniversary of Archdiocese of Australia

More than 3,000 carolers and spectators attended a Christmas celebration at the Archdiocese of Australia, in Sydney, on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of the Archdiocese’s foundation – and also ahead of the 12-day festal period of joy, beginning with the Nativity of our Lord, the heralding of the New Year and the Baptism of Christ, on Jan. 6, the Epiphany.
A visibly moved Archbishop of Australia, His Eminence Makarios, conveyed the best wishes and blessing to the Ecumenical Patriarch to those in attendance, calling on them to remain close to the Church.
