Greek president: Orthodoxy’s universality expressed exclusively by Ecumenical Patriarch

Greece’s president of the republic, Prokopis Pavlopoulos, underlined on Sunday from the southern Peloponnese city of Kalamata that “…Orthodoxy’s universality is expressed exclusively by the Ecumenical Patriarch.”

Pavlopoulos spoke during his attendance at the celebration of the Feast Day of the Presentation of Christ in the Temple by the Panaghia, the Virgin Mary, for which Kalamata’s main Cathedral is dedicated.

The reference comes ahead of this week’s meeting, in the United Arab Emirates, of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The latter is on an official visit to the Gulf Region this week.
