The Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, on Thursday referred to the long-standing sacrifices and contributions of the Mother Church of Constantinople, in greeting pupils and teachers from a vocational high school in Grevena, northern Greece.

The Ecumenical Patriarch greeted the group in the presence of the Archbishop of Australia, His Eminence Makarios, who is visiting the Bosporus metropolis.

The Ecumenical Patriarch noted that “…Constantinople is the spiritual center our people; here is the cradle for which all that our people consider as sacred and righteous is preserved… And we, the few, who remain here to minister the Church and Hellenism from this location, consider it a particular blessing bestowed by God and a privilege.”
