Patriarch of Serbia Irinej warmly received by Archbishop of America Elpidophoros

The Patriarch of Serbia, His Holiness Irinej, was warmly received this week at the Archdiocese of America, in NYC, by the Archbishop of America, His Eminence Elpidophoros.
The Archbishop referred to a spirit of cooperation between the two Churches in the United States, as well as the standing support by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople regarding the tense situation in Montenegro. On his part, the Serbian Patriarch cited the historic ties between the Serbian and Greek people, beginning from the era of St. Savvas in the 13th century.

The Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church noted that “… we are children of Byzantium. We have established our Churches on the example of Byzantium, and we added our influence.”
