Holy Synod of Church of Crete requests exclusion on holding of Divine Liturgies, other services during upcoming Easter Holy Week; without worshippers

The Holy Synod of the Church of Crete has addressed a letter to the relevant education and religious affairs minister, Niki Kerameos, requesting that all parish cathedrals and churches within monasteries on the large island be allowed to conduct Divine Liturgies and other daily services during the upcoming Easter Holy Week – albeit without the presence of worshippers or pilgrims.

The Holy Synod of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece is also convening this week, in an extraordinary session, to formulate its position ahead of Easter Holy Week, and amid the ongoing restrictions in place to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
