The Patriarch of All Romania, His Beatitude Daniel, on Sunday cited the role of women, as modern-day Myrrh-Bearers, stressing that “… these are the women who early in the morning stand before the icon of the Savior and pray for the good health of their family, for the health of children and supplicate Him for help in overcoming life’s difficulties”.
In Serbia, the Bishop of Bačka, His Grace Irinej, officiated at the archieratical Divine Liturgy on the Sunday of the Myrrh-Bearing Women, at the Synodical Cathedral in the city of Novi Sad.

In his sermon, Bishop Irinej thanked the Lord and expressed his joy over the fact that after several weeks, a Divine Liturgy was again held with the presence of worshipers.

On the east Mediterranean island republic of Cyprus, the Metropolitan of Kykkos and Tillyrias, His Eminence Nikiforos, in his sermon on Sunday, referred to the difficult, unbelieving and cunning times we live in, ones characterized by materialism and bliss, but where the hidden Disciples of the Lord and the modern-day Myrrh-Bearing Women – as venerated on the specific day – become pathfinders to show humanity the way to spiritual renewal.
