Metropolitan-Bishop of Montenegro visits monastery of St. George in Lake Skadar, on occasion of feast day (based on the Julian calendar)

The Metropolitan-Bishop of Montenegro and the Littoral, His Eminence Amphilochios, visited the historic 14th century monastery of St. George on Tuesday, on the occasion of the saint’s feast day, as commemorated with the Julian calendar.
The monastery is located on a small islet within Lake Skadar, on Montenegro’s border with Albania.
His Eminence again referred to a controversial law passed in the country, which the Church condemns as an attempt to confiscate many of its properties and relics, while also adulterating the nation’s cultural heritage. As such, he cited one plan to transform the isle’s holy ground into a casino.
