Montenegro athletes express solidarity with Orthodox Church’s just struggle against controversial law

A letter signed by several of Montenegro’s top athletes expressed their solidarity towards the just, as they stressed, struggle of the Orthodox Church in the small Adriatic country against a controversial law passed by the government regarding religious institutions.
The letter comes shortly before talks are set to resume between the Serbian Patriarchate’s Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral, and Montenegro authorities, talks aimed to resolve the contentious dispute.

The Orthodox Church in the country charges that the law threatens to allow the state to confiscate its assets and relics, while also disrespecting the biggest and most ancient religious denomination in the country.
