First Western Australian convert to be officially appointed as parish priest to the Church of Saint Nicholas in Bunbury

On Sunday 27 September 2020 Fr John Sullivan became the first convert in WA to be officially appointed as parish priest to the Church of Saint Nicholas in Bunbury, a coastal city located approximately 175 kilometres south of Perth.
The occasion was marked with Hierarchical Matins and Divine Liturgy presided by His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Kyaneon.
At the conclusion of the service, His Grace, on behalf of His Eminence Archbishop Makarios, officially presented Fr John Sullivan to the parishioners of Saint Nicholas as their new parish priest. His Grace reassured Fr John that the Archdiocese and the clergy of Perth are always there to support him and his wife Presvytera Anna as they seek to continue God’s work and extend it to the wider community.
His Grace acknowledged the former parish priest, Fr Sotirios Vlachopoulos, who had served the local Greek Orthodox Community in Bunbury for over 20 years and thanked him for serving the church with so much love and humility.
His Grace also thanked Fr Evan who over the last 18 months has been travelling the 4-hr return trip from Perth to Bunbury to assist with the Sunday liturgies.
In an emotional address, President Aristos Papandroulakis, thanked His Eminence for providing the community of Bunbury with a worthy and energetic priest to serve and expand the parish.
We wish the new parish priest, Fr John Sullivan and his wife Presvytera Anna, every blessing as they now embark on their mission of brining orthodoxy to all those who thirst for the truth.
