The monastic community of Mount Athos announced on Thursday it will not be receiving any visitors or pilgrims until November 30, as part of measures against the coronavirus pandemic.
Workers at Mt. Athos must not travel between monasteries and hermitages, but must only stay at the site specified in their contract invitation, was clarified in a statement.
Greece is currently observing a nationwide coronavirus lockdown until November 30.
Mt. Athos is located in the easternmost section of the Chalkidiki peninsula in northern Greece.
