HELP KENYAN ORTHODOX PRIEST TRANSPORT 120 CHILDREN TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY
Last month, OrthoChristian reported on Fr. Antipas Odhiambo’s efforts to help rebuild his community in the Dagoretti Corner Settlement in Nairobi, Kenya, after more than 3,000 residents were evicted by governmental companies, many of whom also suffered the demolition of their homes.
Among the buildings demolished was the primary school founded by Fr. Antipas, a priest of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, 6 years ago. The school has 120 students who greatly love Fr. Antipas and all their teachers.
Temporary accommodations have been found for the school, though Fr. Antipas is raising funds to buy a new, permanent location. He also hopes to buy a van to transport the children to and from school.
Fr. Antipas recently reported to OrthoChristian that he has located two vans that would be suitable for the school’s needs, which would make life much easier for the long-suffering priest and his many school children.
The first van is more preferable, as it can carry more children, though the second is cheaper.
Fr. Antipas would prefer to purchase a white 2013 Toyota Hiace, which can seat 14 children. The total price, including insurance and other fees, is $26,275.
Father has also looked at a Toyota Noah, which can only hold 7 children, but only costs $14,630. There will also be additional transfer and insurance fees.
In addition to providing for his school children, Fr. Antipas’ Community Relief Fund raises funds to help the poor, widows, orphans, and jobless in the slums of Nairobi.
