A number of families received an amazing Christmas gift this year in Romania.

Through the efforts of Fr. Dan Damaschin, a priest of the Romanian Orthodox Church in Iași, housing was purchased for 15 financially struggling families. Those living in villages were each given a house, and those in the city were each given an apartment, reports the Basilica News Agency.

Fr. Dan personally handed the families the keys, and gifts were given to the children in the families, as can be seen in a video published on his Facebook page.

Fr. Dan writes that altogether, about 100 people received housing. The homes were purchased through the efforts of Fr. Dan and a number of volunteers.

The children of the 15 families sang a carol together with Fr. Dan in gratitude:

Fr. Dan is a missionary priest of the Cuza Vodă Maternity Church in Iași. Together with the volunteers of the Voice of Life Association, he takes care of several thousand children from the counties of Moldova, regularly providing them with clothes, supplies, and food.

In 2019, Fr. Dan organized Paschal gifts for more than 4,000 children, and this year, three families with 19 children received homes for Pascha.

Through Houses of Hope, Fr. Dan and Voice of Life have built, bought, or repaired 60 houses, including the House of Life, a complex of 24 studios for pregnant women at risk of abortion, and the House of 7 Mothers, where 27 children and 11 mothers who have been abandoned by their families and society are housed.

The Basilica News Agency also reports that a new house is almost ready for a widow with 7 children who just lost their home to a fire on December 7. The funds for the housing were raised by Fr. Florin Stan and Holy Ascension Church in Târgu Lăpuș.
