Antioch Patriarchate – The Funeral of Bishop Luke Al-Khoury

Damascus, January 6, 2021
Amid ecclesiastical, official, and lay presence, His Beatitude John X Patriarch of Antioch and All the East presided over the funeral service for Bishop Luke Al-Khoury in the Maryamiyya Cathedral in Damascus. The funeral took place this evening when the body arrived from Lebanon after a funeral prayer was held in the Archdiocese of Zahleh.
The Melkite Catholic Patriarch of Antioch, Alexandria, and Jerusalem Youssef al-Absi, the heads of Christian churches and their representatives in Damascus, the bishops and clergy of Damascus and its countryside, all attended the funeral service.
After the Gospel reading, His Beatitude recalled the services of the reposed Bishop, praying that God grant mercy to his soul.
Then the body was transferred to the cemetery of Saint George to be buried with the archbishops.
