Heightened concerns over Serbian spiritual legacy, Christian heritage in Kosovo-Metohija

Concerns over the Orthodox Christian heritage in the Kosovo-Metohija province were rife this week, only a few days before elections there.

The Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Visoki Decani this week issued a plea over social media for the protection of the Serbian spiritual legacy in the province, while also revealing the latest desecration at the Holy Hermitage St. Peter Koriški, near the city of Prizren.

Local authorities said they arrested four ethnic Albanians on charges of theft of historical and valuable objects from the monastery, which is host to several priceless mosaics that in the past have also been targeted by vandals.
