Court case against Metropolitan of Montenegro & Littoral Joanikije again postponed
A court case where the Serbian Church’s Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral, His Eminence Joanikije, and eight other Orthodox clerics are defendants, charged with violating pandemic-related public health restrictions in the country in late 2020, was again postponed on Friday.
His Eminence was Bishop of Niksic at the time of the alleged violations, with the filing of the charges by a local prosecutor generating condemnation and allegations of persecution by Montenegro officials against the Orthodox faith in the small Adriatic country.
The postponement was announced after two of the priests were reported as testing positive for Covid-19 virus.
