Excavations project at the Holy Zion
The Patriarchate of Jerusalem has assigned to the German Archaeological Society under Professor Dr Dieter Vieweger the carrying out of excavations in the area of the plot and the Cemetery on the hill of Agia Sion in front of the Patriarchal School.
These excavations are for the benefit of the Patriarchate and the flock and are carried out with absolute respect for the graves of the Holy Sepulchre Fathers and the Orthodox believers buried there.
