Memorial Service for the Late Metropolitan Theologos of Larissa and Tyrnavos
On Monday, 31 July 2023, His Eminence Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa and Tyrnavos visited the Holy Chapel of Saint John the Theologian, which is located at the Larissa military base hospital, and conducted a Trisagion in memory of his late predecessor, Metropolitan Theologos Paschalides, who fell asleep in the Lord on 31 July 1996.
His Eminence Metropolitan Ieronymos chose to offer the Trisagion in this Holy Chapel, which is connected to the person of his blessed predecessor, and in fact in front of the Iconostasis railings that, according to the ancient tradition of our Church, separate the Sanctuary from the main part of the Church, so as to denounce in this way all those who hastened to betray the late Metropolitan by characterising him as Latin minded and a papist, since according to their “opinion”, the iconostasis railings in the Holy Chapel declare this. The Church, the work of the mason Mr. Pistolis, captures in its decoration many elements of Byzantine architecture, according to the tradition of our Church, which makes it a model to be copied.
His Eminence Metropolitan Ieronymos of Larissa and Tyrnavos, who has shown that he respects all his predecessors, stated that he does not tolerate those who continue to offend the personality of the late Hierarch, while they tarnished his name by creating unacceptable situations, alien to the ethos of the Church, with which the Late Metropolitan demonstrably disagreed, in our days by accusing him slanderously, they prove that they did not care about Metropolitan Theologos, he simply suited them for their personal selfish purposes, for the sake of which they exploited him. And the well-meaning faithful of Larissa, the vast majority, having understood the expediency of all this, have long since turned their backs on them.
