The well-known television news program “60 Minutes” aired a feature over the weekend on the under-construction Greek Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas, located at “Ground Zero” in Manhattan.
The original St. Nicholas and the iconography it displayed were destroyed in the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center. After almost two decades, the church is rising again with new iconography from the Holy Monastery of Xenophontos on Mt. Athos.
In the program, it’s emphasized that this project is continuing because of the people that never lost faith in its restoration.
