On Holy and Great Monday, 18 April 2022, a Holy rite of the myrrh cooking began with the Holy Hierarchical Liturgy in the Patriarchate’s chapel of Saint Simeon the Myrrh-Gusher.
In a prayerful presence of His Holiness Kyr Porfirije, Their Graces Bishops Marko of Bregalnica, Jovan of Hvosno, Sava of Marča and retired Georgije of Canada, as well as High Venerable Abbot of Studenica Archimandrite Tihon, His Grace Bishop kyr Jerotej of Toplica officiated the Holy Liturgy.
Archimandrite Serafim, protopresbyter-staurophors Vladimir Vukašinović, Božo Bakajlić and Vajo Jović and protodeacons Dragan Radić and Radomir Vrućinić concelebrated to the Bishop. Students of the Faculty of Orthodox Theology and readers, students of the Seminary of Saint Sava sang responses during the service.
His Holines Patriarch kyr Porfirirje, after small blessing of waters, lit a candle that would burn during the days of myrrh cooking, and then he poured blessed water, white wine and an olive oil into the cauldrons under which he lit a fire.
Protosynchellos Danilo, Director of the Administration Office of the Patriarchate, and Nektarije, Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod of Bishops, they brought already prepared blend that Patriarch Porfirije poured into the cauldrons.
Following the beginning of the myrrh cooking, His Holiness the Patriarch began reading the Holy Gospel, and after him Their Graces Bishops Marko of Bregalnica, Justin of Hvosno, Jerotej of Toplica and retired Georgije of Canada continued after him, as well as priests who took over this honor and duty in the following days until Holy and Great Thursday.
