According to the Patriarchate of Georgia, closure of the Jvari Monastery in Mtskheta is related to outdoor trade.
According to the head of the press service of the Patriarchate, Andrea Jagmaidze, the reason for the closure of the Jvari Monastery in Mtskheta is the inappropriate situation created by the traders.
“The outdoor trade creates an inappropriate situation for the monastery. As we know, Father Constantine has repeatedly raised this issue, but it has not been resolved and such measures have been taken. I cannot say whether this decision was agreed with Patriarchate as I’m not in the city for the time being”, – Jagmaidze said.
According to First Channel, there are no clergymen in Jvari Monastery and the door is closed.
