Albanian PM meets clergymen, advises to avoid unnecessary rituals

Prime Minister Edi Rama has held a meeting with senior representatives of the Albanian clergy, urging them to try to avoid religious gatherings, as coronavirus has affected Albania. Prime Minister Rama has said that some rituals must be avoided, such as hugging the believers, shaking hands, kissing hands, to stay a little further away from each other at the time of prayer. Rama has once again said that one should not be afraid, but should be careful.

“This is an epidemic that affects those who are older and have chronic illness. It is not life threatening to other ages who have no health problems.When there is a special day in a church or a mosque when many people gather, care should be taken to follow all these measures that break the rules of the ritual at some point,” Rama declared.

The first two cases of coronavirus, father and son, coming from Italy to Albania were confirmed on Monday morning.
