Announcement of the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate
The Ecumenical Patriarchate issued an announcement on the sitting of the Holy and Sacred Synod:
“On 18 December 2023, the Holy Synod met under the presidency of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, in its first session this month.
The Grand Protosyncellus Theodore, was unanimously elected Metropolitan of Seleucia. On the same day, the announcement of the election (Mikro Minima) and the Formal Election Announcement (Mega Minima) was read by the Metropolitan-elect. He received the heartfelt congratulations of the Primate, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the reverend Hierarchs, the Patriarchal Court and the rest of those who were present.
Afterward, the Ecumenical Patriarch announced that it:
a) elevated to the rank of Protosyncellus the former Chief Secretary Archimandrite Grigorios,
b) elevated to the rank of Grand Archdeacon, Deacon Alexander,
c) elevated to the rank of second deacon, the third Deacon Kallinikos,
d) elevated to the rank of the third deacon, Deacon Barnabas
e) elevated to the rank of Deacon in line, Patriarchal Deacon Ieronymos Sotirellis
On the other hand, by decision of the Holy and Sacred Synod:
a) the former Deputy Secretary Deacon Bosporios Magafas, was promoted to Chief Secretary,
b) the former Codifier Deacon Oikoumenios Amanatidis, was elevated to the rank of Deputy Secretary, and
c) Patriarchal Deacon Evlogios Tsatsas was appointed to perform the duties of Codifier until further decision.
The ordinations of the Elected Hierarch, and the new Chief Secretary to the rank of presbyter will be held on the Feast of Christmas at the Patriarchal Church.”
