Annual procession of St. Spiridonas’ Holy Relics on Corfu
The annual procession of the Holy Relics of St. Spiridonas, a fourth century miracle worker, was held this year on the Ionian island of Corfu, but this time within a cathedral in the island’s capital, and without the presence of worshipers, due to coronavirus restrictions.
According to Church tradition, St. Spiridonas is credited with delivering Corfu’s residents from a frightful plague that ended on Palm Sunday in 1630.
The litany and veneration of St. Spiridonas’ Holy Relics is conducted every Palm Sunday, accompanied by the island’s philharmonics.
