Annual Synodal Divine Liturgy on feast day of Photios I cancelled this month
The annual Synodal Divine Liturgy on the feast day of Photios I, Patriarch of Constantinople and patron saint of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece’s Holy Synod, will not, unfortunately, be conducted this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Divine Liturgy on the feast day of St. Photios is usually celebrated at the Dormition of the Theotokos Monastery in the Penteli district, north of Athens proper and below the slopes of Mt. Penteli.
During the two-day commemoration on Feb. 5 and 6, the Great Vesper service, the Orthros and the Divine Liturgy will be conducted at the catholicos, or main cathedral, of the Holy Monastery of the Asomaton, in central Athens, officiated by the Abbot of the monastery, Bishop Iakovos.
