Germany – May 22 and 26, 2020
By the laying of hands, His Eminence Isaac (Barakat), Metropolitan of Germany and central Europe ordained Dr. David Kara (MD) a deacon on Tuesday May 26, 2020, during the divine liturgy for Pascha Leave in the Dormition of our Lady Church in Osnabrück- Germany.
His Eminence also laid hands on brother Ralph Blasberg to ordain him a deacon by the name of Raphael during the divine liturgy on May 22, 2020, in the Saint Dimitrios the Myrrh-Gusher Cathedral in Cologne- Germany.
In his homily, Metropolitan Isaac welcomed the new deacon in the Antiochian Orthodox Church in Germany, reminding him of the life of his new patron saint, the Antiochian Raphael, Bishop of Brooklyn, who went preaching in the countries overseas. At the end of the Divine Liturgy, Deacon Raphael had a word of thanks to the Metropolitan and to the Antiochian Orthodox parish, expressing his joy for joining Orthodoxy and beginning his new service there.
