On the weekend of the 29th of August 2020, the parishioners of St. John the Baptist in Croydon Park celebrated their Patronal Feast Day, for the Beheading of St John the Baptist and Forerunner.

On the Friday Evening, His Eminence Metropolitan Basilios presided over the Great Vespers service. Also, in attendance were Fr. John El Karaan and Fr. Nektarios Nehme. The service was solemn and uplifting. The dimly lit Church along with the new Chandelier that had been installed earlier this year created a great ambience. At the end of the service, His Eminence offered some words of encouragement to the growing parish community, reminding them of the significance of St. John the Baptist, for who the Church has appointed seven feast days.

On the Saturday Morning, a Matins and Divine Liturgy service was celebrated. In attendance were fellow brother clergy Fr. John Daher (who was celebrating his name day) and Dn. Mark. The community felt uplifted, as they were offered wise words by Fr. John Daher, who preached about the life and passing of St. John the Baptist, making specific reference as to how they can apply his teachings and example in their life.

On the Sunday Morning, a Resurrectional Matins and Divine Liturgy Service was presided over by His Eminence, Metropolitan Basilios. As always, it is a very big blessing to have our Master and Chief Shepherd with us to commemorate our Patron Saint, John the Baptist. On behalf of Fr. Elias Al Baba, Dn. Theophan Nahas and the Parish Council and community of St John the Baptist, we say “Many Years Master”.

May St. John the Baptist and Forerunner intercede for us always! Amen.
