On Sunday, November 5, 2023, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America presided over the Hierarchal Divine Liturgy at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Shrine Church in Flushing, New York in celebration of his Nameday. Hierarchs and clergy from across the country who served with His Eminence were His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of New Jersey, His Grace Bishop Joachim of Amissos, His Grace Bishop Spyridon of Amastris, and His Grace Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzos, as well as National and District Chancellors, clergy from Hellenic College Holy Cross, the Slavic vicariate, and other local clergy. There was a joyous feeling of unity and love in the church, which was filled to capacity with faithful and students from the parochial school of St. Nicholas.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of New Jersey, on behalf of His Eminence’s brother Hierarchs, members of the Holy Eparchial Synod and hierarchs present, wished Archbishop Elpidophoros many years, exclaiming, «Χρόνια σας πολλά και ευλογημένα.»
Folliowing, the students of the school presented a short musical program to honor Archbishop Elpidophoros. The parish also made heartfelt presentations in support of the Archdiocesan Youth Summer Camp Scholarship Fund, a new initiative of the Archbishop, which is committed to ensuring that every child within our Archdiocese, regardless of their financial circumstances, can participate in our cherished summer camps across the country.
