Archbishop of Albania Anastasios refers to ‘difficult, unprecedented mission’ entailed in revival of Orthodox Church in the country
In his exclusive interview to the Orthodoxia News Agency this month, the Archbishop of Tirana and All Albania, His Beatitude Anastasios, movingly recounts his first days on the throne of the revived Orthodox Church in the country.
He noted that “…I was alone in a hostile environment, on an unstable footing amid a difficult and unprecedented mission.”
Anastasios recounts the difficult first years of his ministry in post-communist Albania, the Church’s struggle to repair its churches and chapels and to build infrastructure in what was previously Europe’s most isolated and impoverished country.
