The Archbishop of Albania, His Beatitude Anastasios, has sent an official letter to the Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Most Godly Beautitude Theophilos III, explaining the reasons why he will be unable to attend a Pan-Orthodox synaxis, or assembly, being organized by the latter in Jordan.
His Beatitude Anastasios reiterated that such an initiative undoubtedly belongs to the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, while adding that “…all of the autocephalous Churches, all of the Orthodox faithful, regardless, have an obligation to contribute to conciliation.”

Anastasios added that the proposal by the Jerusalem Patriarch, “as is obvious”, instead of contributing to an improvement in unity, will instead complicate the situation among Orthodox Churches even more.
