The Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Ieronymos, on Friday received the recently confirmed European Commissioner for Promoting the European Way of Life, Margaritis Schinas, at the Archdiocese in central Athens.
The Greek Commissioner’s portfolio includes migration policy and developing a new asylum framework in the EU.
The Archbishop congratulated Schinas, a native of Thessaloniki, for the assumption of the very high-profile post, and wished him fortitude in his efforts.
On his part, Schinas expressed his best wishes to the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Greece on the occasion of the 12-year anniversary since his election as Archbishop.
Discussion reportedly revolved around the prospect of a common framework of cooperation between the Church of Greece and the European Commission, regarding the concept of a “European way of life”, which is the very object of Schinas’ portfolio.
