Archdiocese of America warns against email fraud

The Archdiocese of America this week commenced a campaign to combat Internet fraud, after several instances were reported over the recent period in which emails soliciting donations were sent to parishioners, with the senders claiming to be clerics or representatives of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese.

A relevant pamphlet will be handed out to congregants during Sunday Church services to remind that parish priests and laymen will never request economic assistance via electronic correspondence. A similar warning and tips to avoid fraud will also be posted on the Archdiocese’s website.
