Author Konstantinos Holevas: Orthodoxy stood as obstacle to Turkification of Greek nation
Political scientist and author Konstantinos Holevas this week spoke to the Orthodoxia news agency, where he stressed that it was Orthodoxy that kept the flame of Hellenism alive during four centuries of dour Ottoman rule — acting as a bastion against Turkification, as he said.
Holevas, who is a member of a special Church of Greece synodical committee on cultural identity, spoke on the occasion of the upcoming 8th international scientific conference, a series of events that focus on the 200th anniversary of the beginning of the Greek War of Independence (1821-2021)
The conference will take place on Friday in the auditorium of Church of Greece’s synodical hall in central Athens, which will be inaugurated by Archbishop Ieronymos.
