The public can watch a 2019 documentary on life and works of the Elder Joseph the Hesychast, who was canonized as a saint of the Orthodox Church this year, for 24 hours, beginning on Thursday morning, and specifically online from the webpage of the London Greek Film Festival.

The dramatized documentary picked up five “Odysseus” awards for the 2020 festival, with the awards ceremony this month to be held online, given the coronavirus restrictions in place.

The awards include Best Creative Documentary and Best Actor, which in this case is Hollywood actor, musician and author Jonathan Jackson in the title role.

The festival’s jury also bestowed a special mention to the Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, on Mount Athos, for the production, the direction and its participation in the moving documentary.

A special award was also awarded to the brotherhood of monks of Holy and Great Monastery of Vatopedi, for their overall spiritual and contributions to society.

The score “A Prayer for All”, based on a poem composed by St. Joseph the Hesychast, and performed by Jackson, picked up the Best Videoclip Award.

The documentary is a production of the St. Maximus the Greek Foundation.
