Benefit concert at famed Carnegie Hall for St. Nicholas Church-National Shrine
A benefit concert will be held this evening at New York City’s famed Carnegie Hall to benefit the St. Nicholas Church and National Shrine. Greek maestro Yiannis Hadjiloizou will conduct the Athens Philharmonic in Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 2, “Resurrection.”
His Eminence, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, under whose auspices the event is being held, invited the Greek-American community to the special concert at the Stern Auditorium – part of initiatives to fund the construction of the St. Nicholas Church and National Shrine at Ground Zero.
The concert was organized under an initiative by Katerina Nafplioti Panagopoulos, who is recognized by the Greek State as an honorary ambassador.
