The the Bishop of Budimlje-Nikšić, His Grace Ioannicus, the Patriarchate of Serbia’s administrator of the Metropolitanate of Montenegro and the Littoral, this week reminded that the election of a new Patriarch of Serbia is a “…familiar, ecclesiastical and spiritual act of national significance. All that participate in this procedure must follow the will of God.”
He also discounted recent media reports in Serbia claiming “political interventions” over the election of a new Patriarch.
Based on a decision by the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Serbia, the election for a new Patriarch, following the repose of Patriarch Irinej last year, will take place Thursday, at the crypt of the Cathedral of St. Sava, in Belgrade.
