Bishop of Thespies Simeon elected as new Metropolitan of Fthiotida

The Autocephalous Church of Greece’s Bishop of Thespies, His Grace Simeon, on Friday was elected by members of the Church’s Holy Synod as the new Metropolitan of Fthiotida, an ecclesiastical bishopric based in the south-central city of Lamia, the capital of Fthiotida prefecture.

His Grace received 62 votes by Holy Synod hierarchs, to eight votes for the Bishop of Fanarion, His Grace Agathangelos. Nine blank votes were cast.
