Break-in reported at Ecumenical Patriarch’s residence; 3 masked suspects seen on security video
Three masked suspects entered the residence of the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople, His All Holiness Bartholomew I, on Saturday evening before being detected by a housekeeper, according to the ethnic Greek newspaper “Anatoli”.
The Ecumenical Patriarch was not in the residence at the time, as he was present at a social event.
According to the report, security cameras detected the trio of suspects inside the residence, with efforts continuing to determine whether any objects were taken.
Turkish police have begun an official investigation.
The Patriarch’s residence is located within a housing complex guarded by private security.
