The Bulgarian Orthodox Church on Friday, Feb. 28, commemorated the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the Bulgarian Exarchate.
The Exarchate was established following a royal mandate by the Ottoman sultan in 1870 in Constantinople. In an announcement, the Bulgarian Patriarchate referred to a blessed day 150 years ago when the Bulgarian Orthodox spirit triumphed.
