Celebratory Event in Qatar
On Friday, November 29, 2024, a celebratory event was held in the area between the Episcopate and the Cathedral of the Archdiocese of Qatar with an artistic program from various local traditions.
The artistic program included contemporary Christmas carols by the children of the Orthodox Arabic-speaking Catechetic School, the English-speaking Catechetic School, the Russian-speaking Choir, Qatar Arabesque, the Kamerton Russian-Ukrainian International Centre for Music Choir, the Dance Association of Greeks from Qatar, wearing Greek costumes, danced traditional dances, the Greek Children’s Theatre of Qatar presented a contemporary act, the Qatar Academy for Music presented instrumental traditional songs and the group of Orthodox Arabic speakers sang traditional songs.
At this event, gifts and objects of reverence were put up for sale, to support the work of the H. Archdiocese. Moreover, various companies and leading members of the flock offered a variety of Arabic, Greek, Serbian, Romanian, Moldavian, Russian, and Ukrainian cuisine delicacies.
The event was honoured with the presence of the Ambassador of Greece Mr Ioannis Ioannidis, the Ambassador of Russia Mr Dmitry Dogadkin, the Ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus Mr Andreas Nikolaidis, the Ambassador of the European Union Dr. Cristian Tudor, the acting Ambassador of Serbia, Mr Alexander Petrovich and the Consul of Moldova Mr Mihai Neamțu, as well as representatives of other denominations in Doha.
The large attendance of the Qatari Orthodox Christians and members of other Christian Communities confirmed the success of this event.
