Chicago Orthodox hierarchs prayed for Patriarch Irinej of Serbia

On Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at the invitation of His Eminence Metropolitan Nicolae of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolia of the Americas, the Orthodox hierarchs of Chicago served a memorial service for Patriarch Irinej of Serbia at Ss. Constantine and Helen Romanian Orthodox Cathedral of Chicago. In attendance were: His Eminence Metropolitan Nathaniel and the Bishop-elect Timothy of the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago, His Grace Longin of the Diocese of New Gracanica-Midwest (Serbian Orthodox Church), His Eminence Peter of the Diocese of Chicago and Mid-America (ROCOR), His Eminence Archbishop Paul of Diocese of the Midwest (OCA) and the host, HE Nicolae.

Metropolitan Nicolae and Bishop Longin served the memorial service for the worthy Patriarch Irinej of the Serbian Orthodox Church. At the end of the service, His Eminence Nicolae recalled the luminous figure of Patriarch Irinej and assured Bishop Longin of the prayers of the clergy and the faithful of the Romanian Orthodox Metropolia of the Americas for the rest of his soul.

At the dinner that followed, the hierarchs discussed the pastoral issues of the parishes during this pandemic period, expressing the hope of overcoming this crisis soon with God’s help. The joy of the reunion was intended to be continued on other occasions soon.
