Chinese Christian receives massive fine for organizing Christmas prayer celebration
Reports this week revealed the ominous imposition of a massive fine imposed on a Chinese man for celebrating Christmas. According to the site christian-persecution.com, the shocking decision threatens all Christians in the world’s most populous country, including the tiny community of Orthodox Christians in China.
The incident took place in a village in Lushan county, in the province of Henan.
The man had invited more than 40 Christians, including 20 children, to pray and sing hymns.
Police raided the home and told the organizer, identified as Niu Guobao, that he had hosted an illegal religious gathering, as described under Article 71 of the Regulation of Religious Affairs.
He was fined 160,000 yuan, which is nearly 25,000 US dollars or more than 20,000 euros.
