Church of Greece favors autocephaly for Ukrainian Church

The Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Greece’s hierarchy on Saturday confirmed a previous decision by the permanent Holy Synod last August to recognize Archbishop Ieronymos’ privilege of handling the issue of autocephaly for the Ukranian Church, as well as the canonical right of the Ecumenical Patriarchate to grant the Tomos.
Essentially, the decision on Saturday by a plenum of Church hierarch gives a nod of recognition to the Ukrainian Church as autocephalous, a move bitterly opposed by the Moscow Patriarchate.
